Made at my kitchen table

Real fabric. Real foam. No sewing at all.

These are pieces I made by hand with fabric scraps and old clothes. Kinusaiga looks like quilting or stained glass, but it's simply fabric tucked into grooves.

How it works

Three steps. One afternoon. Your first piece.

Printed pattern on foam board with fabric
1

Print & stick

Print your pattern at 100% in the size you want and stick it onto a foam board.

2

Cut the lines

Trace every line with a craft knife, a few millimetres deep. Then cut your fabric pieces a little larger than each section.

3

Tuck the fabric

Press the fabric edges into the grooves with a seam ripper, one section at a time. Frame it and you're done.

Watch it come together in 24 seconds

Kinusaiga (絹彩画) started in Japan as a way to give old silk kimono a second life. Today you can do it with any thin woven fabric: old shirts, quilting scraps, a dress you don't wear anymore.

  • No sewing machine, needle or glue on the fabric
  • Mistakes are easy to fix: just pull the fabric out and tuck again
  • Calm, screen-free time that ends with something for your wall

FAQ

Questions, answered

What exactly will I receive?

Right after payment you get a PDF with your personal link to the download folder. It holds all 507 patterns (PDF + image files) in 5 sizes, colour references, The Kinusaiga Handbook and the supply list. Download everything at once or just the collections you want.

Is this a physical kit?

No. This is a digital product only. Nothing is shipped. You print the patterns yourself and use your own foam board and fabric. The supply list shows you what to get.

I've never done this before. Can I do it?

Yes. Kinusaiga is one of the most beginner-friendly crafts there is: no sewing, and mistakes are easy to undo. Start with a pattern marked Easy, read the handbook, and you'll be fine.

Which size should I print?

Easy patterns work at any size. For Medium and especially Advanced patterns, bigger is better (10″ or 14″), because the sections are larger and easier to tuck. Always print at 100% / "Actual size", never "Fit to page".

Can I print on A4 paper?

Yes. The 5″, 7″ and 8″ patterns are laid out on US Letter and fit on A4 when printed at 100%. The 10″ (12×16″) and 14″ (16×20″) sizes can be printed at a copy shop or tiled across several sheets.

How were the patterns made?

The designs are created with the help of AI. Then every single pattern is checked by a human eye (mine) to make sure the lines are clean, the shapes are closed and the pattern is actually doable in fabric. Larger, more detailed designs are recommended in the larger sizes.

Will new patterns be added later?

No. This is the complete collection of 507 patterns and it won't grow. What you see is what you get, all of it on day one.

Can I sell the pieces I make?

The patterns are for personal use. You can't resell or share the pattern files. Making pieces for yourself, as gifts or for your home is exactly what they're for.

What fabric works best?

Thin, tightly woven fabric: cotton, quilting cotton, silk, satin, old shirts. Avoid stretchy knits, jersey and thick upholstery fabric. The handbook covers this in detail.

Can I get a refund?

Because this is an instant digital download, all sales are final once the files have been delivered. If something doesn't work with your download, contact me and I'll sort it out.
